KS1
Welcome To Key Stage One
Welcome to KS1,As children enter Key Stage 1, we support and encourage them to become more independent and resilient learners right from the start. Building on the strong foundations developed in the Early Years, children begin to apply their knowledge and skills with growing confidence and independence.
All children have access to a wide range of high-quality provision within their classrooms, as well as our gorgeous, dedicated Key Stage 1 provision space, thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and independent exploration.
Our classrooms feature inspiring reading areas filled with language-rich, high-quality texts that encourage a deep love of reading. Children also have access to a variety of maths manipulatives and English support materials that they can use independently to support and extend their learning.
We are proud to deliver an immersive and carefully planned curriculum that is both specific and engaging. It is designed to be purposeful and memorable, capturing children’s interests while providing meaningful learning experiences that challenge and support every child to reach their full potential.

Useful Information
PE Days
Crimson, Cherry and Ruby Class will all have their PE slots on the following days;
Monday- Outdoor PM
Thursday- Indoor PM
On PE days children may come to school in their PE kit as per the school uniform policy.
Spellings
Spelling tests will take place every Tuesday. Test scores and your child’s test paper will be sent home the same day so you can see which words your child got correct and which they need to practise further.
New spellings for each week can be found on the Home Learning tab below. We have provided the full list of spellings for the half term, but children should only focus on the words for the current week.
Off Scheme Book Changes
Children who no longer need to access our phonics programme and are now off scheme will have their home reading books changed every Monday. Library books for these children will also be changed on this day.
Book Changes
Children who still access our phonics programme will have their phonics book changed as required by their phonics group. Library books will be changed weekly, by every Thursday. Children should bring their phonics packs to school every day.
